Aly’s Winning
By Charlie McCormick | July 14th, 2011 | Category: Fiction | Comments OffThis is a poem I wrote for my daughter. Poetry should not be accompanied with too much commentary, so it is what it is.
Anyway…
A Poem for Aly
I am in third grade
and I am winning
I know about Japan
I know about Egypt
I know about Haiti
I know about wars
I know about earthquakes
I know about protests
And I am winning because
the world is not fair
but I am.
And I am winning because
the world is not kind
but I am.
And I am winning because
the world is mine
and yours, and yours, and yours
And I am winning because
my voice is brave
my heart speaks to you
I am winning
and so should you.
