Dogs Life
By Charlie McCormick | December 14th, 2011 | Category: Important Stuph | Comments OffNot sure why the idiom ‘it’s a dog’s life’ has a negative connotation. It’s not a bad life for many, if not most.
Get love, affection, shelter, and food. Granted, the food is probably nothing to write home about, and I completely understand when people say “that looks like dog food”.
A dog’s life does not seem so bad, at least not full of misery, but I guess I can understand the drawbacks. Danny the dog loves to run free in the woods, run, jump, scamper, I might even say gallop at times. Breaking through the brush, climbing up rocks, and overall being king of the woods.
Sitting in a house and going in the backyard, those things can’t begin to measure up….and the leash – forgetaboutit.
We’re not supposed to take him off the leash, and if there other dogs around we won’t, but it’s great fun for him.
Makes me wonder what kind of leash we all have on us. A mental or spiritual leash. Sort of like Jacob Marley who wove that heavy chain he had to carry around for eternity – except it’s a leash we wear while we’re still alive.
I think we all wear a leash, we just don’t know how it’s controlling or choking us. It’s a metaphysical leash, like the chains Jacob Marley forged during his life and must carry for eternity.
