WTF Chris Dodd on SOPA

UPDATED: Senator Harry Reid is also a prick.

I understand that retired politicians often have no choice but to go around whoring their access to the halls of power….well, I guess they could retire….And, I understand that after sucking at the American teat his entire life that a politician like former sentator Chris Dodd would have no useful skills.

In general, I have nothing against the thieving, whoring populace known as politicians; but, I take issue with the particular whoring of Chris Dodd for the Motion Picture Association.

The movie industry, specifically the Motion Picture Association has been a supporter of the SOPA and PIPA ACTs that are a direct threat to the Internet as we know it. Everyone knows that piracy is a problem, and the movie industry needs to be protected, just like everyone else.

This doesn’t mean that you put at risk the advancements made in the 21st century, you don’t put at risk the silencing of opposing political views, you don’t put at risk a communication revolution that is still evolving.

So this prick, Chris Dodd, puts out a statement saying that the SOPA & PIPA blackouts by tens of thousands of companies and individuals are a “stunt”, a “gimmick”, “irresponsible”, “disservice”, “dangerous”, “troubling”….plus, they are an “abuse”.

You can read the release below, or click here to read it on the mpaa.org website.

I wonder what Dodd would have said about the Boston Tea Party….. a “stunt”, a “gimmick”, “irresponsible”, “disservice”, “dangerous”, “troubling”….an “abuse”.

I wonder what Dodd would have said about the March on Selma….. a “stunt”, a “gimmick”, “irresponsible”, “disservice”, “dangerous”, “troubling”….an “abuse”.

It’s remarkable that this prick is so stupid, and that the MPAA let him put this crap out on their stationary.

For the love of God, people are protesting something they believe is important, and this prick puts out this crap…a “stunt”, a “gimmick”, “irresponsible”, “disservice”, “dangerous”, “troubling”….plus, they are an “abuse”.

And then at the end he whines like a pissant that the whole protest is intended to “punish elected
and administration officials”
….Damn straight, ya’ prick…..

UPDATED: Senator Harry Reid is also a prick.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 17, 2012
WASHINGTON —The following is a statement by Senator Chris Dodd, Chairman and CEO of the Motion
Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) on the so-called “Blackout Day” protesting anti-piracy legislation:

“Only days after the White House and chief sponsors of the legislation responded to the major
concern expressed by opponents and then called for all parties to work cooperatively together, some technology business interests are resorting to stunts that punish their users or turn them into their
corporate pawns, rather than coming to the table to find solutions to a problem that all now seem to
agree is very real and damaging.

It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information and use
their services. It is also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the
marketplace today. It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as
gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their
corporate interests.

A so-called “blackout” is yet another gimmick, albeit a dangerous one, designed to punish elected
and administration officials who are working diligently to protect American jobs from foreign
criminals. It is our hope that the White House and the Congress will call on those who intend to
stage this “blackout” to stop the hyperbole and PR stunts and engage in meaningful efforts to
combat piracy.”
